III. Definitions

IV. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to help maintain an environment that is conducive to studying, collaborative work, and the use of resources in the library.

V. Background

The library provides a wide variety of spaces for both collaborative and individual study. What patrons should and shouldn't do in these spaces can be confusing. This document aims to clarify appropriate use of library spaces and resources.

VI. Statement of Policy

  1.  Library Environment
    1. The 3rd and 4th floors are designated quiet floors. The 2nd floor (main level) is designed for group study and is not designated a quiet floor. Meeting, talking, and studying together is allowed, but be considerate of other patrons.
    2. Please set cell phone and other devices to silent or vibrate. Calls should be taken in stairwell lounges or library entrances.
    3. Headphones should be used when listening to music or on a call/Zoom meeting on all floors of the library. Make sure no one else can hear music, conversations, or other sounds from devices.
    4. Drinks with lids and food are allowed in the library. Please clean up after yourself. Any major spills should be reported to staff.
    5. Group study rooms are first come, first served.
    6. Flyers can be placed on the bulletin board in the 2nd floor stairwell lounge. Flyers may not be placed on tables in the library or at the main desk. Flyers left in undesignated areas will be recycled.
