The University of Illinois Springfield is strengthening transfer opportunities for community college students through a new agreement with Parkland College in Champaign.

The agreement supports a coordinated transfer pathway from Parkland College to UIS, providing students with structured guidance and resources to complete a bachelor’s degree. Recently approved by the Parkland College Board of Trustees, the partnership is part of the University of Illinois System’s Transfer Drive Program, which is designed to help community college students successfully transition to a four-year institution.

Through the program, students will have access to a dedicated Transfer Coordinator, milestone-based financial support and coordinated advising between Parkland and UIS. These resources are intended to help students remain on track to complete their associate degree and ensure a smooth transition to UIS to finish their undergraduate education.

“Strengthening partnerships with community colleges like Parkland helps us meet students where they are and support them every step of the way,” said Brian Clevenger, UIS associate vice chancellor for enrollment and retention management.

The agreement reflects UIS’ ongoing efforts to expand transfer opportunities and remove barriers for students seeking to earn a four-year degree. It will remain in effect through June 30, 2029.
