Good morning,

The number of COVID-19 cases in our state, including the Sangamon County area, is on the rise. Sangamon County remains at “medium” level, per the CDC’s tracking system. UIS leadership is evaluating what, if any, additional mitigations may be put in place if our county enters “high.”  Please watch your email for further communication should this change in status occur.

In the meantime, though no new requirements are in place at this time, members of the CRRT and UIS administration strongly support the following:

  • Wearing a mask when in close proximity to others, especially in group settings
  • Considering meeting or dining with others outside or with good distancing between attendees
  • Considering virtual meetings over in-person when feasible
  • Getting tested if symptomatic, if you’ve been exposed to a COVID-positive individual, if you have recently traveled or if you have recently attended a gathering

The SHIELD testing site is open until noon today and reopens Monday morning. Free testing also is available at local pharmacies.

As a reminder, the next campus COVID briefing with Chancellor Whitney is at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
