Bio: Mohammed Zillur Rahman is an Environmental Protection Engineer with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA).   He is also a Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner (LEHP) with the State of Illinois.  Mohammed Zillur Rahman is also a Lieutenant Colonel (LTC), an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.  Currently, he is the Engineer Planner at Plans Section, G5 of the 416TH Theater Engineer Command (TEC) since October 2018.  In previous assignments, he served on Active Duty as the Chief of Plans & Operations, Task Force Essayons, U.S. Army Coprs of Engineers (USACE), Taji, Iraq from August 2017 to September 2018 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) and as an Environmental Engineer with the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), USACE at Champaign, IL from March 2016 to February 2017.  LTC Rahman was deployed with 602ND EN DET in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) during December 2008 – November 2009.  He was also deployed with 416TH Engineer Command (ENCOM) during January – August 2003 in support of OIF and actively participated in missions in Kuwait, Iraq and Djibouti.

Mohammed Zillur Rahman was born in Bangladesh.  He is fluent in Bengali language.  Mr. Rahman received a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University in 1987 and an M.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Southern Illinois University (SIU), Edwardsville in 1998.  Mr. Rahman also received a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) in 2008.

Mr. Rahman is married to Hasina Khatun and they have two sons, Rafid (24) and Nafiz (19).

Professional Experience: Civilian – Environmental Engineer with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) since 1998.

Military – Engineer Planner, Lieutenant Colonel, US Army Reserve, 416TH Theater Engineer Command, Darien, Illinois, since 1999.

Research Interests: Investigate and formulate policy to avoid health effects of climate change
