Dear Students, Faculty and Staff —

Today, the UI System shared its COVID-19 requirements for the Fall 2022 semester. UIS supports this approach and will provide details about our university-specific guidelines next week.

In May, UIS announced our requirement for all students, faculty and staff to be fully vaccinated (defined as being at least two weeks past your last dose of the primary series) against COVID-19 for Fall 2022 unless they have an approved exemption. Please refer to our vaccination policies for employees and students regarding the process to request an exemption and important deadlines to consider.

In alignment with today’s system announcement, UIS will continue to require anyone who is not fully vaccinated to test once per week. I appreciate everyone who has worked to comply with this requirement throughout July while our testing site has been offline. Our leadership team is working diligently to determine the best approach for moving forward with on-campus testing for the fall semester.

Finally, we will be announcing early next week our campus guidelines for face coverings on campus for the upcoming semester. Once we have confirmed and communicated our comprehensive approach to managing COVID-19 at UIS for Fall 2022, we will host a Zoom briefing to clarify and amplify our plan and answer any questions.

Please send any questions you may have to covid19@uis.edu.

Thank you,

Janet
