Dear UIS Colleagues —

I am thrilled to share the amazing news that our university’s enrollment this semester is up 6.4 percent over Fall 2021 numbers. This is incredible!

Some highlights:

  • After the first 10 days of classes, a total of 4,198 students are enrolled, up from 3,944 students in Fall 2021.
  • Online learning at UIS has increased to 1,597 students, a 6.8% increase from last year.
  • The number of students living on campus increased by 5%. A total of 874 students live on campus, up from 833 in Fall 2021.
  • Total undergraduate enrollment stands at 2,393. The number of graduate students at UIS totals 1,805, which is a 25% increase compared to last fall.

A lot of hard work and creativity contributed to these results. UIS entered new partnerships for attracting transfer, international and grad students; targeted digital marketing efforts to key populations; reorganized the Enrollment Management team to optimize internal application-review processes, systems and data integration; and improved Financial Aid packaging — just to name a few of our efforts.

More work remains ahead of us, but this is a fantastic jump-start as we work toward reducing our deficit and building our enrollment. So let’s celebrate our gains, learn from this past year’s lessons and BE PROUD!

Thank you for the great work, all!
