Dear Students and Colleagues:
Today, the UIS administration and faculty union bargaining teams had our 11th bargaining session of the calendar year—our eighth session with the independent federal mediator.
The university has responded on all outstanding items and is awaiting responses from the union, including a response on the compensation component of the proposal sent April 21.
To meet the union’s request for additional information on the university’s use of federal COVID-19 relief funds (HEERF), the university’s internal auditors, responsible for management of these funds, joined the session to answer questions from the union. We are hopeful the information provided today was helpful and will inform the union’s compensation counterproposal.
We meet again Wednesday, and both parties have agreed to meet this weekend if necessary. Please continue to refer to our negotiation website for information.
