Justin Wheeler is the vice president of Black Student Union student organization and a mentor for the Necessary Steps Mentoring Program. He chose the University of Illinois Springfield because of "the education-orientated feeling I got when I first stepped on campus," he said. The tight-knit and supportive community across campus is what he enjoys most about UIS. Following graduation, he plans on taking a break from school then returning to earn a master’s degree
