Sangamon County reported 107 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, marking the fourth consecutive day the county confirmed more than 100 positive tests for the coronavirus. Over the last seven days, the county has averaged 102 new cases of COVID-19 daily as the delta variant continues to surge.

Currently, 52.08% of Sangamon County’s population is fully vaccinated, based on data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

With the spike in cases, the University of Illinois Springfield Performing Arts Center announced adjustments to its policies and procedures. Prior to admission, all event attendees will now be required to show proof that they have been fully vaccinated for at least two weeks or show a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last two days.

Face masks must also be worn at all events.

Sangamon Auditorium event attendance is now limited to 1,000 people — 50% of its capacity. UIS Studio Theatre event attendance will be capped at 30 people and six feet of separation is required in the seating area.
