Employee Development Series: De-Escalation Training

Please join us for the next installment of the monthly Employee Development Series: Violence Prevention & De-Escalation Training with Captain Justin Emmons on November 19, 2025 from 9:00-11:00am in the Student Union Ballroom. Attendees will leave this session with new knowledge on identifying different types of disruptive, concerning or criminal behaviors, how to be a good witness, and the Dos and Don’ts of incident involvement. Important topics such as stress responses and the escalation continuum will be covered as intervention tools to use within a de-escalation framework. The impacts of a trauma-informed approach will be highlighted throughout the session. Come join us to learn about enhancing your skills and knowledge to maintain a safe campus community. Registration is not required.

Supervisor Development Day Recap

Thank you to our presenters and participants who joined us for the 2025 Supervisor Development Day. During this full-day event, supervisors on our campus learned about a variety of topics including difficult conversations, discipline, onboarding, and workers’ compensation to gain skills to successfully support employees across the campus community. Did you miss out on the fun? There’s no need to worry as we will be adding resources to the UIS HR website in the coming weeks.

2025 UIS University Experience Survey

Every student, staff, and faculty member is encouraged to participate in the UIS Experience Survey. The UIS University Experience Survey (formerly known as the “Campus Climate Survey”) provides valuable insights that guide improvements to our university environment, teaching, learning, and workplace culture. The survey will be administered now through November 21, 2025. Check your email for a link to the survey. If you have any questions about the study, please contact the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at oire@uis.edu.

End of Year Deadlines

The U of I System University Payroll and Benefits Office (UPB) have published important reminders for end of year deadlines. These deadlines apply to overpayment processing for calendar year 2025. We encourage you to review the newsletter on the UPB website for detailed information.

Cybersecurity Training Due 12/23/25

Reminder that the Cybersecurity quarterly training is due December 23, 2025. The required training is called Guarding Against Ransomware. Questions or feedback should be directed to the Privacy and Cybersecurity Team securitytraining@uillinois.edu.
