Melody Wolf of Petersburg, Illinois, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall 2026 semester and awarded a $10,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over two years. At UIS, she will major in pre-nursing.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

In high school, she was involved in the certified nursing assistant program, the Lincolnland Technical Education Center work program and the Dancing Jays.

“I’m choosing UIS for its amazing nursing program combined with UIC but also being able to stay close to home and my family,” Wolf said.

Following two years of pre-nursing at UIS, she plans to attend the University of Illinois Chicago College of Nursing’s Springfield Regional Campus to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. After graduation, Wolf hopes to work as a nurse in labor and delivery or the neonatal intensive care unit.

All undergraduate first-year students are automatically eligible for Star Scholar First Year Scholarships. To receive $10,000 over two years, the student must have an unweighted GPA of 3.50-3.74.
