Gabe Cofield says he chose the University of Illinois Springfield because of the small class sizes, affordability and proximity to home. At UIS, he is president of the Upsilon Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., membership coordinator for the Student Activities Committee and works for student life. “I like the community the UIS fosters, since it is a small school you get to know a lot of people, and create lasting relationships,” he said. Following graduation from UIS, he plans to work in the software engineering field.
