Construction and Project Updates

Library Commons

Construction continues to progress on schedule. Crews have completed major concrete work on the upper floors and penthouse, continued exterior framing and utility installation, and begun preparations for mechanical systems, fireproofing, and roofing. Watch the crews work in real time using the Library Commons Live Stream!

Student Union Sidewalk Closure

Library Commons-related utility work has finished on the east side of the Student Union. A few cleanup items and landscaping work remain, but the sidewalk is now open for use.

Public Affairs Center (PAC) Plumbing Infrastructure Project

This project to renew the plumbing system in PAC by repairing and replacing sanitary sewer and domestic water pipes is nearing substantial completion.

Please stay tuned for future updates and visit our dedicated PAC Plumbing Infrastructure Renovation Project webpage for the project details.

University Hall (UHB) Classroom Lighting

The classroom lighting project in University Hall is now complete. Existing lighting fixtures have been replaced with new LED flat panels, providing improved lighting, increased energy efficiency, and a more modern classroom environment.

University Hall Environmental Controls Upgrade

The University Hall Building environmental controls upgrade is substantially complete. The project modernized building control systems on floors 1 through 4, continuing work completed during previous project phases. Final system adjustments and testing are ongoing as crews work to optimize performance and complete the project.

Parking Lot D

Parking Lot D upgrades are complete, with more than $1 million invested in a new surface, improved traffic flow and accessibility, and upgraded LED lighting. The lot is now available as a Standard permit lot for the 2026-27 academic year. Motorcyclist training sessions will be held in Lot D through Oct. 25, resulting in periodic parking closures on Friday evenings and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Classroom Scheduling and Space Requests

The Classroom Scheduling Unit is working on fall semester room assignments, which will be posted soon in the dynamic course schedule. During this busy period, our primary focus is on ensuring all academic courses are assigned appropriate classrooms before the start of the semester. Space requests for activities other than academic courses will be delayed through the first 10 days to allow for any course additions or classroom adjustments.

Need space for a small group meeting? Check the self-schedule options either on the Facilities Scheduling webpage or on Orbit-Book A Space.  These smaller conference rooms can be instantly reserved for team meetings or collaborative work sessions.

Thank you for understanding as we work to ensure a smooth start to the fall semester.

Grounds Updates

The crews have been busy this summer... and continue to be! In addition to routine duties, special projects are underway. Some of those include tree and shrub trimming and refreshed landscaping in the traffic islands on University Drive.

Work on the rain garden, located between the WUIS and Student Life buildings, is also expected to pick up in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates!
