Construction and Project Updates
Parking Lot D
Work on Parking Lot D has recently resumed. The contractors are currently working on the concrete portions of the lot. The asphalt paving is expected to occur during the first to second week of May once the asphalt plants reopen. A firm completion date will be shared when it becomes available.
LRH Roof
Roof replacement work at Lincoln Residence Hall is nearly complete. The roofing portion of the project is finished, with only select metal work remaining.
Final construction activities are expected to wrap up within the next one to two weeks, with full completion anticipated by the end of April—well ahead of student move‑out.
Brookens Roof
The Brookens Roof Project is currently in an investigative phase. Over the next couple of weeks, structural engineering and architectural teams will be on site conducting evaluations to better understand existing conditions. Findings from this investigative work will help inform the project scope and schedule.
Library Commons
Work on the Library Commons continues to progress on schedule. Over the next 30 days, construction will focus on ongoing structural steel erection, and crews are steadily advancing toward completion of the back third of the structure.
Following the steel installation, teams will begin installing pan decking, which serves as the metal base for the concrete floors. Once the decking is sealed and preparation is complete, large-scale concrete pours are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
This sequence of steel, decking, and concrete work marks a major milestone for the project and keeps the overall construction timeline moving forward as planned.
Upcoming Project - Trillium Court Roof Replacement
Roof replacements for the Trillium Court buildings are an upcoming project to address long‑term performance and weather protection needs. This project involves the complete removal of the existing roofing systems and the installation of new asphalt shingle roofs.
Work will include new underlayment, ice and water protection, ridge vents, sheet metal flashings, joint sealants, and all related accessories required to deliver a fully warrantied, durable, and weather‑tight installation.
The Trillium Roof Replacement project is currently out for bid. Additional updates regarding project award, schedule, and potential impacts will be shared as information becomes available.
Upcoming Construction-Related Closures
PAC Building Closure
The Public Affairs Center (PAC) will be closed beginning May 12 for the water main replacement, which requires a full water shutdown. The closure may last up to 4 weeks. All units housed in PAC will operate from temporary or remote locations during this time and will share updated contact information to ensure continuity of services.
The overall project is expected to be substantially complete by mid-June, with cleaning and phased re-occupancy scheduled to begin in July. The university is working toward most units returning by late July, with full operations resuming prior to the start of the fall semester. Please stay tuned for future announcements and schedule updates.
Student Union Sidewalk Closure
As part of the Library Commons construction project, the sidewalk on the east side of the Student Union (between the Union and Lot J) will be closed to allow crews to complete required utility work for the new building. Work will begin on Wednesday, May 13, and the area will be closed to pedestrians, deliveries, and waste removal until approximately June 17.
