Frank Moscardelli, assistant superintendent of grounds, has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for August 2026.

His nominator easily recognizes his integral role in managing and improving the idyllic look and health of our campus.

“As an arborist/tree surgeon, he specializes in the care and maintenance of trees, including planting, pruning, diagnosing health issues and removal when necessary,” said his nominator.

Moscardelli’s supervisor, Brian Beckerman, adds that his dedication always and continues to go “above and beyond” in the workplace.

“Frank always shows up to work early and always has a plan for his day," Beckerman said. "He is a strong team player and works very well with his supervisor, other staff members, and the campus community at large."

His dependability and team player mentality assist in getting the job done efficiently.

“His work exceeds expectations and he is a behind-the-scenes hero here at UIS,” his nominator said.

While Moscardelli exemplifies a strong work ethic, his impact extends to being a great role model.

“Frank is extremely kind and courteous to everyone he encounters during a day at UIS,” Beckerman notes. “He is always positive and has a great attitude!”
