Dre Duvendack Visk, program coordinator for Gender & Sexuality Student Services and interim program director for the Women’s Center, has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for November 2025.
Duvendack Visk’s supportive nature makes her well-respected within the campus community, especially with students.
“Observe Dre in a social setting with students and you see that they love her. She makes personal connections with the students and, at the same time, retains a professional relationship,” her nominator said.
In addition to managing two programs within the Diversity Centers, she manages two graduate assistants and eight student workers in these areas.
“Dre has daily contact with UIS students, staff and community members. She presents a strong work ethic and is well respected by her co-workers, faculty, UIS departments and the community at large,” her nominator said.
Duvendack Visk’s supervisor, Daniel Aguilar, complimented her for stepping up to take on additional roles and for improving programs to be more inclusive and welcoming to students.
“Her leadership and initiative have helped foster a more equitable and student-centered environment and her contributions have had a lasting impact on the campus community,” Aguilar said.
She builds meaningful relationships and collaborates with many members of the campus community.
“Her presence is grounded, intentional and affirming, creating spaces where students feel seen, heard and valued,” Aguilar said.
Outside of UIS, Duvendack Visk is involved in numerous community organizations and events, including the Springfield Pride Parade, Sister Cities Organizations and the Springfield Immigrant Advocacy Network.
