What do you like about your job?
I love working with students and supporting them throughout their journey at UIS. I also enjoy collaborating with our campus partners, such as Residence Life, Dining, UIC Nursing and faculty, to help ensure an accessible and inclusive experience for all students. Additionally, I love learning, and at ODS, there is always something new to explore or an opportunity to expand my knowledge every day.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love going for long walks and reading. My favorite genres are dystopian, sci-fi and historical fiction. My favorite authors are Margaret Atwood and Maya Angelou. I also enjoy researching historical royalty, my family’s genealogy and keeping up with anthropology-related research, which I studied in school.
What is your ultimate travel destination and why?
My ultimate travel destination is Hever Castle in England and Scotland overall. Hever Castle is the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, a medieval English queen whom I recently discovered is my 12th great-grand aunt. The castle features beautiful lakes, gardens and a medieval-style interior. In Scotland, I hope to see Highland cows, various castles and ruins and the standing stones.
Is there a book, movie or TV show that you recently watched and liked?
I recently reread Letter to My Daughter by Maya Angelou and loved it. It is a collection of memoirs, essays, and poems that reflect on living a meaningful life and the lessons that she learned regarding compassion and resilience.
