Tell us about your personal and professional journey.
Several experiences shaped who I am and ultimately led me to the work I do today. Early in my career, I was drawn to healthcare because I wanted a profession where I could make a meaningful impact in people’s lives during vulnerable moments. Working closely with patients and families showed me how important not only clinical knowledge is, but also empathy, communication, and trust.
As I gained experience in clinical practice, I found that I really valued being able to combine problem-solving with patient relationships. Managing complex cases, collaborating with physicians and other team members, and helping patients navigate their health challenges reinforced that I was in the right field.
Over time, I also became interested in the systems and teamwork behind patient care. Seeing how leadership, workflow, and collaboration affect both patient outcomes and provider well-being motivated me to grow into more of a leadership role. Those experiences are what led me to pursue opportunities where I can continue caring for patients while also supporting and guiding other clinicians
Who or what has played a significant role in influencing or mentoring you?
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to learn from several people who have influenced the way I practice. One of the most significant influences was a physician I worked closely with early in my career. They modeled not only strong clinical reasoning, but also the importance of truly listening to patients and treating them with empathy and respect. Watching how they balanced efficiency with patient-centered care helped shape the way I approach my own clinical practice.
I’ve also been influenced by colleagues and experienced advanced practice providers who were generous with their time and knowledge. They showed me the value of collaboration, asking questions, and supporting one another as a team. Those experiences reinforced how important mentorship and teamwork are in healthcare.
Because of the impact those mentors had on me, I try to carry that forward by supporting newer clinicians, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
What accomplishments or contributions are you most proud of—professionally or personally?
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of professionally is the impact I’ve been able to have on patient care and patient relationships. Being trusted by patients to help guide them through complex or stressful health situations is something I take very seriously, and knowing that I’ve been able to make a difference in their outcomes and experiences is very meaningful to me.
I’m also proud of the role I’ve played in supporting colleagues and contributing to a strong team environment. Whether it’s helping onboard new clinicians, collaborating on challenging cases, or stepping in to help when the team is busy, I’ve always tried to be someone others can rely on.
Personally, I’m proud of the dedication it took to pursue a career in healthcare and continue growing within it. The combination of clinical responsibility, ongoing learning, and teamwork has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m proud to contribute to a profession that has such a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
What goals, projects, or aspirations are you excited about for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m really excited about continuing to grow in both my clinical practice and in leadership. One of my goals is to contribute more to team development by mentoring newer clinicians and helping create an environment where providers feel supported, confident, and able to practice at their highest level.
I’m also interested in being involved in projects that improve patient access, efficiency, and overall quality of care. Small workflow improvements or better collaboration across the care team can make a big difference for both patients and providers, and I enjoy being part of those kinds of initiatives.
Ultimately, my aspiration is to continue growing into a role where I can combine clinical care with leadership—supporting my colleagues, helping improve systems of care, and ensuring patients receive the highest quality care possible.
What advice would you share with other emerging professionals who want to make an impact in their field or community?
One piece of advice I would share is to stay curious and committed to lifelong learning. Healthcare is constantly evolving, and the professionals who make the greatest impact are the ones who continue to grow, ask questions, and seek opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills.
I would also encourage emerging professionals to value collaboration and mentorship. Some of the most meaningful growth in my career has come from learning from colleagues and being open to feedback. Healthcare is truly a team effort, and building strong relationships with those around you can make a significant difference for both providers and patients.
Finally, I think it’s important to stay grounded in why you entered the field in the first place. When you keep patients and the community at the center of what you do, it helps guide decisions and keeps the work meaningful, even during challenging times.
Outside of work, what activities, interests, or passions keep you inspired and grounded?
Outside of work, I really value spending time with my family and being present in those moments. Having that balance helps keep me grounded and reminds me what’s most important. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and staying active, which is a great way for me to recharge and reset.
I’m someone who enjoys learning and personal growth as well, so I often find myself reading or exploring ways to continue developing both personally and professionally. Having those outlets outside of work helps me return to my role feeling more focused, energized, and ready to give my best to my patients and team.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know as we celebrate you as a Promising Prairie Star?
I’m truly honored to be considered for something like this, because I know there are so many dedicated professionals doing meaningful work in our communities every day. For me, the most rewarding part of my career has always been the opportunity to serve others—whether that’s caring for patients, supporting colleagues, or contributing to a stronger healthcare system.
I’m grateful for the mentors, coworkers, and community members who have helped shape my journey, and I see this recognition as a reflection of the teams and people I’ve had the privilege to work alongside. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing, giving back to my community, and helping support the next generation of professionals who want to make a difference.
