Join us at the the Pittsfield City Lake Campground in Pittsfield, IL for an evening of star gazing and freedom stories from the underground railroad in central Illinois. The event begins at 8 pm with a presentation by rangers from the National Park Service about the history of the New Philadelphia National Historic Site and stories from the underground railroad in central Illinois focused on the hope people found in their experience with the night sky and being led to freedom by the North Star. Following the presentation there will be star gazing including constellation tours of the night sky and views through telescopes.
There is a limited availability of overnight camping at the Pittsfield City Lake Campground offered on a first come first serve basis.
