About the Program

The Chancellor’s Associate Program, established in 2026, is designed to provide focused leadership around key university priorities to provide professional growth opportunities for faculty and staff while building internal leadership capacity.

Structure

  • Associateships are available to full-time academic professional staff, exempt civil service staff and faculty.
  • An initial appointment is made through an open application and selection process facilitated by the chancellor and chief of staff.
  • Each associate’s term is for 12 months with option for up to three one-year, renewable reappointments; a reappointment (no reapplication) is contingent on satisfactory performance and mutual interest, up to a maximum of three consecutive years.
  • The Associate remains in their current position and is compensated via stipend at the same frequency (monthly/biweekly) that they currently are paid.
  • Supervisor approval is required. A written workload agreement will be established among the associate, home supervisor and associate sponsor. Goals and deliverables will be set by the chancellor and chief of staff and clearly communicated to the associate.
  • The reporting line for Associate work is the Chancellor’s Chief of Staff and/or Director of Strategic Initiatives and Engagement.
  • An operational budget will be determined annually with the chancellor and chief of staff. The Associate is encouraged to leverage existing resources to limit the expenses required to meet the goals of the associateship.
