You'll be inside the music when twenty-one performers ring the UIS Colonnade, surrounding the audience, as we present Terry Riley's mesmerizing experimental work "In C." While fully notated, "In C" is never the same twice. You'll be encouraged to shape your own unforgettable audience experience by moving throughout the space.

UIS Band Concert

Join us as the UIS Band presents a powerful and imaginative program inspired by painting, literature, poetry, and dance. Each work transforms a different art form into sound, creating a vivid, multi-sensory journey for the audience.

The program includes:
Pictures at an Exhibition – Mussorgsky (paintings, sculpture, architecture)
The Lord of the Rings – DeMeij (literature/novel)
The Echo Never Fades – Gillingham (poetry)
Danzón – Valencia (dance)

UIS Make A Noise Ensemble Concert

Come see UIS students and faculty as well as members of the Springfield community perform experimental works by composers Pauline Oliveros, Cornelius Cardew, and Steve Reich, as well as a world premiere composed collaboratively by everyone in the Make A Noise Ensemble!

UIS Chamber Concert

Join us for a Chamber Concert on April 26 at 7:00 PM, featuring UIS Camerata students in an evening of creative and collaborative music-making. The program highlights student-composed works performed by the UIS Camerata Student Band, alongside a variety of intimate chamber ensembles that showcase the artistry and versatility of UIS musicians. The concert also includes a performance by the UIS Flute Choir. Not to be missed!

2023 Annual Silent Auction & Benefit

Students and faculty are invited to participate in the Visual Arts Gallery's Annual Silent Auction & Benefit featuring local and regional artists! Proceeds fund annual gallery programing. The auction runs online from November 13 - December 7. See auction items in person at the gallery from December 4 - 7. A final bidding reception will be held at the gallery on December 7 from 5:30 - 7 pm; this event is free and open to the public.
