The third workshop will focus on Domain 1: Course Overview and Information. Join us for this workshop, where we will explain what Domain 1 is all about, share strategies for how to meet the standard, and connect this domain to joyful teaching practices.

Join colleagues in a discussion about using the NACE Career Readiness Competencies to help students better recognize and communicate what they are learning.

In this event, led by Professor Hypatia Bolivar, participants will learn about an activity that asks students in a research methods course in psychology to compare the output of generative AI (CoPilot, Gemini) with a disciplinary research database (PsycINFO) for a basic search query. Discussion will focus on the activity's learning outcomes and its pros and cons. Participants will be encouraged to consider how it could be adapted for their disciplinary context.

In this workshop, Professor Lan Dong will discuss teaching and learning about health humanities and global awareness through visual storytelling. She will address course design and assignments inspired by research, pedagogy, and practices in the emerging field of graphic medicine. After a case study of selected class material and sample student projects, attendees will brainstorm, design, and workshop ideas for audio, visual, multimodal, interactive, and/or other innovative assignments to foster and assess student learning that would fit in their classes.

This workshop will explore how AI is reshaping the work of teaching, from the everyday to the essential. We’ll discuss core AI concepts, practice prompt engineering for instructional design, and consider how assessments might be redesigned. We’ll also talk about ethics, privacy, and academic integrity, and support for developing clear AI policies tailored to individual courses.

This event will be led by Itri Papanikolla (College of Du Page) and can be joined via Zoom

Join UIS instructors as they share activities, ideas, and practices that have shaped and improved teaching and learning. After sharing a brief summary of their work, presenting instructors will be available at individual tables to answer questions and collaborate with attendees. Light refreshments will be provided.

Join APAC at Sangamon Auditorium for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Performing Arts Center at UIS. Discover how shows are selected, planned and brought to the stage, while learning about the many elements that make live performances possible.

The first portion of the tour will take place in the newly renovated seating area and is fully accessible. The second portion includes stairways and elevated areas and may not be suitable for all participants.

The Office of Strategic Communications will host two Open Photo Studio sessions for fall 2026 for all faculty and staff. Portraits can be used for university purposes, such as department websites. Faculty and staff who have not had their portrait taken or would like a more recent portrait are encouraged to attend.
