They didn’t always agree or have all the answers, but their courage shaped a lasting democracy. Today, while our democracy has endured longer than any other, we still have work to do to reach our full potential.

Join us for The Work Close to Home: Civil Rights Leadership in Springfield, a fireside-style conversation highlighting local leaders whose work has shaped civil rights and community change in our region. This informal evening gathering invites participants to reflect on how national movements take root locally through courage, service, and sustained leadership. Centered on dialogue rather than lectures, the fireside chat will feature storytelling, reflection, and audience engagement.

In collaboration with the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center, we will be hosting a tabling opportunity designed to engage students in meaningful reflection and action in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This interactive tabling will feature brief activities that encourage learning and community connection, while also raising awareness of upcoming MLK Day programs, service opportunities, and campus and community events.

A night dedicated to making a special young woman’s dream come true.

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service to our community. On this Day of Service, volunteers are invited to help assemble care kits for local nonprofit organizations supporting individuals and families in need. Organizations will include The James Project, Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery, Lee Elementary School, Helping Hands and others.

Join the Women of Color Initiative and the Alpha Phi Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. For an extraordinary eventful evening of cultural influence appreciation through choice of Karaoke, Arts and Craft in honor of Black History Month. There will be prices and other treats.
