In accordance with the UIS Policy on Weapons Screening at the UIS Performing Arts Center, the Joe Bonamassa concert being held at the UIS Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, will require weapons screening of all event attendees and other individuals desiring access to the Public Affairs Center (PAC). This determination was made due to a request by the renter of the venue to meet the routine needs of the touring artist and is not due to any known or expected threat to the artist, event attendees, or greater campus community.

Starting around 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, most normal entrances to the PAC building will be locked by campus police and ALL persons desiring entrance shall be required to pass through a designated weapons screening checkpoint, which shall involve passing through a metal detector along with a potential visual inspection of the contents of bags to ensure no illegal or prohibited weapons are brought into the venue. Appropriate signage will be in place around the facility notifying personnel that weapons screening is occurring and where to enter the building.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation with this process.

Sincerely,
