Deborah Anthony, a University of Illinois Springfield legal studies professor, was admitted to the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court.

The ceremony took place June 18 in Washington, D.C., according to a community announcement.

The admission allows Anthony to practice before the nation's highest court. Only a select group of attorneys are admitted to the Supreme Court Bar each year.
