The University of Illinois Springfield hosted a conversation between Chancellor Janet L. Gooch and Mylas Copeland as part of her Chancellor’s Thinkers Series event titled “A Call to Think: We’re All in This Together.”
The discussion focused on servant and authentic leadership, exploring what motivated Copeland to give back so consistently and generously. A respected community leader in Springfield, Copeland was known for his deep commitment to service and active involvement across multiple organizations through board leadership.
Through this dialogue, Chancellor Gooch and Copeland examined the mindset of “We’re All in This Together,” highlighting how collaboration, connection and civic engagement strengthen communities.
The Chancellor’s Thinkers Series was designed to inspire diverse perspectives and encourage intentional thinking. Each session included a “featured thinker” from a variety of disciplines who engaged in meaningful dialogue with Chancellor Gooch on topics tied to their expertise.
