The University of Illinois Springfield and Waubonsee Community College (WCC) in Sugar Grove, Illinois, have signed a transfer pathway agreement that will ensure a smooth transition for WCC students to complete their bachelor’s degrees at UIS.

WCC graduates transferring to UIS are guaranteed admission through the U of I System Transfer Guarantee and will be admitted as juniors. Eligibility can be determined on the University of Illinois System website.

“This agreement gives WCC students another way to continue their education,” said Vickie Cook, UIS vice chancellor for enrollment and retention management. “We are excited to see how this opens doors for students at Waubonsee and how their hard work and learning at WCC can impact our campus.”

UIS provides both in-person and online course options. UIS offers 49 bachelor’s degrees, 51 master’s degrees and a variety of professional certifications encompassing a wide range of professions. WCC students interested in transferring to UIS to complete a bachelor’s degree should speak with their academic adviser.

UIS participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement designed to allow students to complete the Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC), as well as credit earned in select majors between participating institutions. To determine IAI GECC, use the course planning worksheet.
