Shutting Down Skype for Business
Information Technology Services will be shutting down the UIS Skype for Business server on Monday, April 17. Microsoft has been migrating Skype for Business functionality to Microsoft Teams and plans to no longer support Skype for Business.
Please note that this has no impact on Skype; Skype for Business is a separate service.

What should I do if I use Skype for Business to chat with my team?
- ITS recommends utilizing Microsoft Teams or Zoom Client for chat functionality.
What should I do if I still use Skype for Business to host meetings?
- ITS provides licensing for all students, faculty and staff to host meetings using either Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
What should I do if I still get meeting invites that are hosted by others using Skype for Business?
- Organizations that still use Skype for Business for meetings should have the ability for you to join the meeting using the Skype for Business web browser client.
