The University of Illinois Springfield’s online Master of Arts in Human Services program has been recognized as one of the Best Online Master’s in Human Services of 2025 by Forbes Advisor.
The ranking highlights UIS for offering a flexible and accessible graduate education tailored to working professionals and students seeking to advance their careers in human services. Forbes Advisor noted UIS’ available concentrations in child and family studies and social services administration, as well as its strong curriculum in key areas such as ethics, social policy, nonprofit management and grant writing.
The publication praised UIS for delivering most coursework asynchronously, allowing students to complete the 33-credit degree on their own schedule in as few as two years. All students also gain practical experience through an internship with a social service agency.
UIS received high marks for its low median federal student loan debt, relatively low loan default rate among alumni and the high percentage of graduate students enrolled in distance learning.
The program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and requires a $60 application fee. Concentration options allow students to tailor the degree to their interests, with coursework in topics like alcoholism and substance abuse, and serving children from diverse populations.
