ITS Resources
ITS boasts a wide variety of resources, including:
Office 365
UIS students and employees can take advantage of Office 365 to download Office applications on their personally-owned devices, free for use while they are enrolled in courses/employed at UIS. Office 365 also includes the use of the Office mobile apps, allowing you to create and edit Office documents on your mobile devices. Students and employees may go to ITS' Office 365 page to start taking advantage of this great resource. And be sure to take advantage of other software available.
Equipment Checkout
Laptops, digital cameras, video cameras, microphones, and other equipment are available for short term checkout, free of charge.
Box
Box provides unlimited cloud storage for files. You can easily share files, collaborate with others, access your files on mobile devices, and sync files to your desktop with Box Drive. Box also includes a great feature to edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files online in the browser!
Zoom
Zoom is a cloud-based conferencing solution that provides both video conferencing and screen share capabilities. All UIS faculty, students, and staff have access to the university’s licensed account and to Zoom’s great video conferencing features. We encourage you to check out the Zoom Resource page and complete the Zoom Test prior to your class sessions/meetings so that you can test your mic and camera.
LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning hosts thousands of video tutorials on hundreds of different software applications (including certification practice exams), providing you with the training you need when you need it.
Citrix Virtual Desktop
Citrix Virtual Desktop allows users (whether on or off campus) to access a virtual computer that runs software for which UIS has licensing. The Citrix environment is running Windows 11 with semester-long storage of 1 GB.
Windows 10 End of Life Coming in October
As a reminder, Windows 10 will reach end of life in October 2025, and all university-owned Windows computers will need to be running Windows 11 before then. Computers running Windows 10 after October will not be allowed on the network.
If you are new to Windows 11, please check out our collection of short video tutorials with our favorite tricks! You can find additional collections of video tutorials on a variety of topics, including managing email, Internet safety, AI productivity, using Teams, note-taking, and more on our website.
