The Porter McNeil Public Service Foundation has established the Porter and Mary McNeil Public Affairs Reporting Endowment at the University of Illinois Springfield.

Titled the Porter and Mary McNeil PAR Student Support Fund, the scholarship expands the foundation's mission of supporting aspiring journalists. The endowment, announced on Tuesday, honors the late Porter McNeil and his wife, Mary Carlin McNeil.
