As part of our ongoing security effort to protect users, an email rate limiting policy will go into effect February 28 for all employees.

The purpose of this policy is to prevent compromised accounts from sending mass emails to other users that might put additional accounts at risk.

Starting February 28, if an employee mailbox attempts to send more than 1000 emails per hour or 10,000 emails per day, the account will be locked for 24 hours while we investigate.

Distribution Lists do not count towards this limit. For example, if you send an email to the Official Employee DL (which contains over 1000 recipients), your account will not be locked.

For employees who need to send mass emails, ITS recommends Email+. Tutorials on how to use Email+ are available.
