David Meredith has been named the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Retention Management at the University of Illinois Springfield, pending Board of Trustees approval.

Meredith brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in enrollment management across public and private institutions. He most recently has served as a strategic enrollment management consultant and interim executive leader, including roles at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, the University of Toledo, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College and Union College, where he focused on strengthening enrollment operations and student retention.

In this role, Meredith will oversee undergraduate, graduate and online admissions; international admissions; enrollment processing and operations; financial aid; and institutional retention efforts across the Division of Enrollment and Retention Management.

“David brings extensive experience in enrollment management that will support our ongoing efforts to strengthen enrollment and retention at UIS,” said Janet Gooch, UIS chancellor. “He has a strong background in building sustainable systems and fostering collaboration, which will be important as we continue this work.”

Meredith has also held leadership roles at East Carolina University, the University of New Orleans and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has led efforts to reverse enrollment declines, implement data-informed recruitment strategies and strengthen retention through improved student support systems.

He earned his doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati and has built a national reputation for leading enrollment strategy, organizational change and student success initiatives.

Meredith’s appointment will be effective June 16, and he will serve as vice chancellor-designee until his anticipated approval by the Board of Trustees.

“I want to thank Chancellor Gooch and the search committee for selecting me for this amazing opportunity,” Meredith said. “I'm honored to join the UIS enrollment team and look forward to working with deans, faculty and staff to recruit and graduate students who will go on to do amazing things in their communities. My wife, Jennifer, and I are excited to move to Springfield and become part of the community.”
