The Illinois Springfield women's track and field team opens its indoor season Saturday at Grand Valley State University's Bob Eubanks Open in Allendale, Mich.

Field events are scheduled to begin at noon CT, with running events following 30 minutes later. The Prairie Stars are set to send a full squad to the meet, with a strong emphasis on distance events to open the indoor campaign.

UIS will be well represented in the women's 800 meters by Marissa Roggensack, who also appears in the mile. The Prairie Stars will have multiple athletes competing in the mile, including Emily Lepp, Mackenzie Billard, Roggensack and Kali Gaden, giving UIS depth in one of the meet's most competitive events.

The women's 3,000 meters features a pair of key returners in Olivia Thomsen and Kaleigh Inniss. Inniss earned All-GLVC honors in the event last season and will look to begin her indoor season against a strong regional field.

UIS will also compete in sprint events and select field events, with entries in the long jump and shot put, and is scheduled to field a 4x400-meter relay.

One Prairie Star has already opened her indoor season, as Madelyn Miller-Ross competed earlier this winter at the same facility in the 5,000 meters. Her performance coming off the cross country season remains among the top marks in the Midwest region and the GLVC.

The meet will be streamed live on FloCollege, with live results available through Fairchild Sports Timing. Streaming and results links can be found on the UIS track and field schedule page.
