The Illinois Springfield women's tennis team (4-7) secured a strong 5-2 road victory over Truman State on Sunday afternoon, using a doubles point and a pair of comeback wins in singles play to seal the match.

UIS took early control by winning two of three doubles matches to claim the first point of the day. Ema Norma Bordean and Niamh Grogan battled to a 7-5 win at No. 1, while Jane Carter and Cristina Mendoza Romero earned a 6-3 victory at No. 3. The No. 2 pair of Alisha Deogaonkar and Maria Garcia Gama fell 6-4.

In singles play, the Prairie Stars showcased resilience across the lineup. Ema Norma Bordean dropped a tight three-set match at No. 1, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Cristina Mendoza Romero picked up a strong 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 2 position. Alisha Deogaonkar rebounded after a first-set tiebreak loss to win 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-2, while Niamh Grogan also rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory. Jane Carter added a clean 6-2, 6-4 win, and Maria Garcia Gama fell 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
