Tell us about your personal and professional journey.

My journey has been shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a strong desire to build technology that creates real-world impact. I pursued my Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Springfield, where I discovered a deep interest in artificial intelligence, particularly in how intelligent systems can augment human decision-making.

Through hands-on research, internships, and industry fellowships, I transitioned from learning theoretical foundations to applying them in practical, high-impact settings. Experiences in AI research, software engineering, and cross-functional collaboration taught me how to balance innovation with execution. These experiences collectively shaped me into someone who values both technical rigor and thoughtful problem-solving, and they ultimately led me to work at the intersection of technology, product thinking, and leadership.

Who or what has played a significant role in influencing or mentoring you?

Several mentors and communities at UIS played a pivotal role in my development. Faculty members who encouraged research-driven thinking helped me gain confidence as a problem solver and researcher. Equally influential were peer communities study groups, research collaborators, and professional cohorts who fostered accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Additionally, my experiences in industry internships and fellowships exposed me to mentors who modeled strong leadership, ethical decision-making, and the importance of building scalable, user-centered solutions. These influences collectively shaped my professional values and growth mindset.

What accomplishments or contributions are you most proud of—professionally or personally?

I am most proud of my ability to consistently translate complex technical ideas into practical outcomes. Professionally, this includes contributing to AI research projects, publishing work in AI and NLP, and delivering real-world solutions during my internships and fellowships.

What goals, projects, or aspirations are you excited about for the future?

I am excited about continuing to work on intelligent, scalable systems that improve how people interact with technology. My long-term aspiration is to grow into a leadership role where I can bridge technical innovation with strategic decision-making—driving projects that are both impactful and sustainable.

I am particularly interested in projects involving AI-driven products, human-centered design, and large-scale systems where technology directly improves efficiency, accessibility, or user experience.

What advice would you share with other emerging professionals who want to make an impact in their field or community?

Stay curious, stay consistent, and do not underestimate the value of foundational skills. Impact is rarely the result of a single breakthrough it comes from sustained effort, learning from failure, and being open to feedback.

Seek mentors, but also become one. Build strong fundamentals, communicate clearly, and focus on solving real problems rather than chasing titles. Most importantly, align your work with purpose impact follows when passion meets discipline.

Outside of work, what activities, interests, or passions keep you inspired and grounded?

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures, and reflecting on how diverse perspectives shape problem-solving. I also value continuous learning whether through reading, personal projects, or structured skill development. These activities help me stay grounded, creative, and adaptable, while reminding me of the broader context in which technology operates.

Is there anything else you’d like us to know as we celebrate you as a Promising Prairie Star?

UIS has been a transformative chapter in my life. It provided not only academic rigor but also a supportive community that encouraged growth, leadership, and confidence. Being recognized as a Promising Prairie Star is deeply meaningful, as it reflects both my individual efforts and the collective support of the UIS community. I am grateful for the foundation UIS has given me and proud to represent its values as I continue my professional journey.
