Wayne Davenport is a higher education advancement leader with more than 15 years of experience advancing institutional priorities through philanthropy, strategic fundraising, and engagement with alumni, donors, corporations, foundations, and community partners. He serves as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and Chief Development Officer for the College of Business and Management at the University of Illinois Springfield, where he leads development efforts supporting academic programs, faculty and student success, athletics, and other university priorities.

Throughout his career, Wayne has partnered with institutional leaders, faculty, alumni, and philanthropic and community partners to develop relationships and secure support for institutional priorities. His experience includes major and principal gift fundraising, campaign strategy, corporate and foundation engagement, donor relations, and advancement leadership. He approaches fundraising as a relationship-driven discipline grounded in listening, trust, strategic alignment, and a clear understanding of the difference an investment can make.

Before joining UIS, Wayne served in advancement leadership at the University of Missouri as Senior Director of Development in the College of Arts and Science. Throughout his career, he has worked with donors and partners to secure resources for students, faculty, academic programs, and institutional initiatives while helping universities strengthen their culture of philanthropy.

A first-generation college graduate, Wayne earned his bachelor¿s and master¿s degrees from Texas A&M University-Commerce, now East Texas A&M University. His educational journey informs his commitment to expanding opportunity through higher education and to helping advancement professionals and emerging leaders grow in their careers.
