Dr. Elham Buxton joined the Computer Science faculty at UIS in fall 2013.She received her PhD in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2012. Dr. Buxton's research interests are in Computational Intelligence, Soft Computing, Deep Sequential Learning, and Applied AI. She is particularly interested in multi-modal language models and the application of Deep Learning in protein engineering, health and education. Dr. Buxton is also interested in AI curriculum development for K-12. She has published over 40 articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=q40tT5MAAAAJ. Dr. Buxton developed Data Analytics Master's program and graduate certificate at UIS and is currently teaching several AI related classes at graduate level.
