Gender and Sexuality Student Services (LGBTQIA+)

Gender and Sexuality Student Services provides education, advocacy, support, mentoring, and a safe space for sexual and gender minority (LGBTQIA+) students.

As part of our services, Gender and Sexuality Student Services presents educational, cultural and social opportunities for all students to challenge intolerance and promote affirmation in an effort to create a more inclusive and affirming campus climate for sexual and gender minorities. LGBTQIA+ includes but not limited to lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, genderqueer, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexuals and their cisgender and heterosexual allies.

Although the physical office location is temporarily closed due to mandated social distancing during COVID-19, the professional staff are available for confidential individual conversation and support via Zoom. Please email GSSS Director Kerry Poynter: kpoyn2@uis.edu or GSSS Graduate Assistant Sara-Ann Rosen: srose25@uis.edu to schedule a private meeting that is convenient for you. Available times are M-F, 9AM-5PM. Also, you can join us for our weekly discussion group every Thursday at 5:30PM.
