Splunk Fundamentals 2
Learn the fundamentals of data analytics and unlock the hidden value of big data!
This instructor-led course will focus on the powerful Splunk platform. Learn about searching and reporting commands as well as creating knowledge objects.
- Using transforming commands and visualizations
- Filtering and formatting results
- Correlating events
- Creating knowledge objects
- Using field aliases and calculated fields
- Creating tags and event types
- Using macros
- Creating workflow actions and data models
- Normalizing data with the Common Information Model (CIM)
Course Dates/Times: Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 CST

Credential: Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a Splunk certificate, digital UIS completion badge and be prepared to complete the Splunk Core Certified Power User exam if desired with Pearson Vue. Certification is optional
Prerequisites: Completion of Splunk Fundamentals 1 is recommended, but not required. Please note that the topics of Fundamentals 1 will not be covered in 2. Basic Splunk information/review is available at no cost at splunk.com. This course is intended for candidates with some computer science/data analytics experience.

The Office of Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE) invites UIS faculty members to submit workshop proposals for the CAPE 2021 Summer Workshop Series. Faculty members may propose a one-time event or a multiple day series. Content will be offered over the Summer term between May 20 and August 20. The CAPE Summer Workshop Series offers UIS faculty the opportunity to showcase their academic interests in non-credit workshops. Workshops should focus on active learning topics that encourage professional growth and/or discovery-based activities.
