The Provost’s Certificate for Excellence in Professional Development is a recognition program designed to celebrate and incentivize meaningful engagement in professional growth among faculty and staff. The program encourages participation in development events, mentoring relationships, and reflective practice, culminating in an annual awards ceremony where recipients are honored by the Provost.

Certificate Requirements

To earn the certificate, participants must earn 6 credits by completing the following within two academic years (or less):

  • Attend 6 professional development events (worth one credit each). Events may include workshops, seminars, conferences, Rise events, or approved internal trainings.
  • Engage in a mentoring relationship (1 credit awarded for being an active mentor or mentee).

Tier 1: Provost Certificate

To attain Tier 1 status participants will attain 6 PD credits

Tier 2: Provost Certificate + UIS Excellence in Professional Development Badge

To attain Tier 2 status participants will:

  • Submit a one-page (minimum) reflection on their experiences, which will be attached to digital badge;
  • Give a brief presentation on what was learned at a department meeting, CFE event (individual or joint), or similar.
