IP Phones

The UIS campus contains support for Cisco-based Internet Protocol phones. Specifically, the 7940 Series of Cisco IP Phones is extensively used on the UIS campus. Unlike traditional telephones the Cisco 7940 is connected and powered completely by a network cable that is connected to a nearby network port. A personal computer may then be connected to the IP Phone for normal UIS network access. This ensures that the IP Phone does not require its own separate network port.

The Cisco 7940 IP Phones contain advanced features that expedite many tasks such as checking your voicemail. For more information about using your Cisco IP phone, please read the Cisco IP Phone User Guide.

To run reports for your departments phone bills please refer to the Pinnacle Phone Bill Report handout.
