Dear UIS Campus Community, As we continue to experience extreme heat this week, City Water, Light & Power (CWLP) has notified UIS of a potential Maximum Generation Warning. This is due to the increased demand for electricity and a potential energy supply shortage from the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), the regional electric grid operator for the central United States. |
Campus-Wide Wi-Fi Upgrade - BSB And Clover

Thanks to campus and system-level financial support, ITS is in the process of implementing a campus-wide infrastructure refresh as part of our efforts to improve Wi-Fi performance. This is a multi-phase project with an expected projected completion date of August 2025. During the week of June 23, we will be upgrading the Business Services Building (BSB) and Clover. During the transition for each building, laptops, tablets, and phones should automatically switch to the new Wi-Fi after a possible brief interruption in service. |

Amelia Hinkle of Springfield has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall semester of 2025 and awarded a $24,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. At UIS, she will major in environmental studies. The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed if the student maintains college GPA requirements. |
Leah Robinson awarded a $24,000 scholarship to attend the University of Illinois Springfield

Leah Robinson of Springfield has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall semester of 2025 and awarded a $24,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. At UIS, she will major in biology. In high school, Robinson was involved in multiple organizations, including Key Club, Mayor Youth Council, AVID, Black History Club, NHSS, Book Club and ASL Club. The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed if the student maintains college GPA requirements. |
