Prairie Stars Fall in 3-0 Decision in Regular Season Finale

Illinois Springfield closed its season on Saturday with a 3-0 road loss at Missouri S&T, falling 25-17, 25-22, 25-21. The Prairie Stars finished the year at 12-14 overall and 4-9 in the GLVC.
The match began with the Prairie Stars on the back foot as Missouri S&T took an early lead, opening with a 3-0 run. Illinois Springfield responded with Makenna Cox delivering a service ace followed by a kill, narrowing the gap to 3-2. Despite this effort, Missouri S&T maintained their advantage, capitalizing on errors to extend their lead.

UIS Volleyball Falls To Maryville In Straight Sets

Illinois Springfield dropped a three-set match at Maryville on Friday evening, falling 25-13, 25-22, 25-20 at Moloney Arena in St. Louis. The Prairie Stars (12-13, 4-8 GLVC) totaled five service aces and had two players finish with double-digit kills.
Maryville used a late first-set surge to pull away after UIS kept things tight early behind swings from Madison Siefken and Makenna Cox. The Saints took advantage of a handful of UIS miscues to close out the opening set. |
Prairie Stars Begin Season with Competitive Effort Against Hillsdale

The Illinois Springfield women's basketball team opened its season on Friday with a 77-61 road loss at Hillsdale, a game that remained tight through three quarters before the Chargers pulled away with a 26-point fourth frame.
"We won't be about moral victories for long this season, but I'm proud of the fight and toughness we showed tonight." said head Coach Olivia Birt. "We had them on the wire going into the fourth and proved we can compete. We're excited to get back on the floor tomorrow!"
