The Illinois Springfield baseball team opened the 2025 season with a series split against Tusculum. After falling 12-8 in the first game on Saturday, the Prairie Stars bounced back in the second with a strong offensive performance and steady bullpen work, securing a 14-5 victory.

The UIS softball team wrapped up the Alvy Early Memorial Classic with a split on Saturday, moving its overall record to 4-4. UIS fell 13-0 to Washburn before bouncing back with a 4-0 shutout victory over Missouri Southern.

The UIS women's track & field team delivered several standout performances at the Lewis Invite on Friday night, highlighted by Madelyn Miller's historic mile run. Miller became the first UIS runner to break the 5-minute barrier in the indoor mile with a time of 4:57.00, marking a new milestone for the program. Her performance currently ranks No. 55 in NCAA Division II as of Friday night.

The UIS men's track and field team delivered a strong showing at the Lewis Invite, highlighted by a new indoor school record in the 4x400-meter relay.

The UIS softball team fought hard in two tightly contested matchups on Friday but came up just short, falling 9-7 to Central Missouri and 7-6 to Northwest Missouri State. Despite strong offensive efforts and late-inning pushes, the Prairie Stars were unable to complete their comebacks in the opening day of the Alvy Early Memorial Classic.
