Ty Brachbill of Shelbyville, a senior at Shelbyville High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2023 and awarded a $32,000 Lincoln Merit Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, he will major in exercise science. The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements. |

Spring 2023 Course Preview: Graduate

The Spring 2023 graduate experience is one that will leave students with a broader understanding of the historical practices of the United States and more. Dr. Hunter will be offering HIS 502 Public History Colloquium. Since the early-1980s, HIS 502 has served as the foundation for graduate public history study at UIS, with readings focused on theories, methods, and case studies of public history. Spring 2023 Course Previews: Undergraduate Online

Undergraduates will have the opportunity to take the learning online in the Spring semester and take the courses in history offered remotely. Dr. Barnwell will be teaching an online segment of her HIS 375, ECCE: Conflict in the Middle East. This course covers the history of several conflicts in the Middle East over the 20th century and makes connections between past events and current events in the Middle East. Students who have taken this course in the past have remarked “I thoroughly enjoyed this course and I have learned a lot about the topic. The layout of the course was great. |
