Breauna Spencer of Taylorville awarded a $36,000 scholarship from the University of Illinois Springfield

Breauna Spencer of Taylorville, a senior at Taylorville High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2022 and awarded a $36,000 Capital Scholars Honors Program scholarship. She plans to major in biology at UIS. The scholarship can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements. At Taylorville High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society, dance team, band, concert choir, madrigals and is a part of the school musical. |

UIS announces Fall Semester 2021 Dean’s List

The University of Illinois Springfield has released the Dean’s List for Fall Semester 2021. A total of 640 students were selected; 92 are students in the College of Business and Management, 61 are students in the College of Education and Human Services, 392 are enrolled in programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, 74 are enrolled in programs in the College of Public Affairs and Administration and 21 are non-degree seeking or undecided. |

Reaching Stellar: Center for Lincoln Studies Just Getting Started

The goal of the Center for Lincoln Studies at UIS is to share the life and legacy of the nation’s 16th president. And while those who run the Center wish they could have brought people onto campus during the first year it was open, they have no doubt they have succeeded in in sharing his life and legacy. The Center for Lincoln Studies is one of the five priorities of the Reaching Stellar campaign, a $40 million campaign that is raising support for UIS. The Center opened on Feb. 12, 2021 – Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. |
Illinois' Lauren Wiles and UIS' Danielle Dennis earn conference Player of Week accolades

Illinois and the University of Illinois Springfield softball teams are both 4-1 after the opening weekend of the spring season. Both teams already have stars emerging. Danielle Dennis (0.529 BAVG, 1.294 SLG%) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. The junior had quite a busy weekend at the plate totaling nine hits, four home runs, six runs, 11 RBI and one double. She was the difference maker in two wins this past weekend. |
