The City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) has awarded a grant of $50,000 for a Chicago Monuments Project to Hinda Seif, associate professor of Sociology/Anthropology at the University of Illinois Springfield, and Laurie Matheson, director of the University of Illinois Press.

Aliza Akmal of Karachi, Pakistan has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Spring Semester 2023 and awarded a $28,000 Lincoln Merit Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, she will major in biology with a pre-medical focus.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

Students graduating in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023 must submit an online Graduation Application via Student Self-Service (https://apps.uillinois.edu/ - “Graduation” tab) by October 3, 2022 (Fall 2022) or February 17, 2023 (Spring 2023).  Students MUST be sure to verify that all curriculum information is listed accurately BEFORE submitting an online Graduation Application (including major, minor, concentration, etc.).
