The Illinois Springfield women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a pair of close losses to tough GLVC opponents over the weekend. The Prairie Stars finished the season with a 1-11 overall record and a 1-4 mark in conference play. Prior to the match on Saturday, the team honored its seniors — Carmen Llopis Fabra, Kamila Kalinowska, and Piper Schrepferman — with a pre-match recognition ceremony.

The UIS women's golf team competed in stroke play at the GLVC Championship at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill., on Friday and Saturday. The Prairie Stars started strong and remained among the top four teams after 54 holes, securing a spot in Sunday's medal/match play semifinals. The Prairie Stars were led by All-GLVC athlete Elaine Grant, who was fourth overall.

The UIS baseball team faced Southwest Baptist on the road, starting with a Friday night doubleheader in Bolivar, Mo., with the first game beginning at 6:15 p.m. and the second at 9:30 p.m. due to a rain delay.

The UIS softball team traveled to Fayette, Iowa, on Saturday, sweeping Upper Iowa with victories of 6-1 and 7-4 to improve to 29-16 overall and 17-9 in GLVC play. With the wins, UIS secured a spot in the GLVC tournament.

UIS softball is headed on the road to close out the regular season with back-to-back noon doubleheaders—Saturday at Upper Iowa and Sunday at Lewis. The trip will end with a matchup against the top team in the GLVC standings, as the Prairie Stars prepare for the postseason. Illinois Springfield (27-16, 15-9 GLVC)
