Honoring Exceptional UIS Alumni
The UIS Alumni Association is proud to recognize alumni who embody the mission and vision of the University through their extraordinary achievement, service and impact. Award nominations are accepted on a rolling basis. Unless otherwise noted in awards criteria, nominations are considered “active and in good standing” for five years. The annual public call for nominations includes the nomination deadline for a specific awards presentation cycle.

Alumni Achievement Award
The Alumni Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed upon alumni of the University, recognizing individuals who have attained outstanding success and whose national or international distinction in their chosen field demonstrates the value of a UIS education across a lifetime.
Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award recognizes alumni, faculty, staff or friends of the University whose exceptional service has significantly contributed to the University’s well-being and the advancement of its mission.


Alumni Humanitarian Award
The Alumni Humanitarian Award recognizes alumni whose outstanding dedication and leadership has significantly improved the lives of others and the welfare of humanity. Recipients embody the University’s historic commitment to public service and address the pressing humanitarian needs of society.
Loyalty Award for Exceptional Alumni Service
The Loyalty Award recognizes alumni of the University who have consistently demonstrated exceptional loyalty, commitment, dedication and service to the University and its advancement.


Alumni Rising Star Award
The Alumni Rising Star Award recognizes alumni aged 35 or younger, or who have graduated within the previous five (5) years. Recipients demonstrate emerging and unique innovation, creativity and success in their chosen career and/or life’s work.
Student Leadership Award
The Student Leadership Award recognizes graduating students for their volunteer contributions as leaders of student societies, groups and organizations at UIS. Nominees are undergraduate, graduate or doctoral students who received their degrees in summer or fall, or who are candidates for graduation in the spring term.
